What Is Counselling?

Counselling and psychotherapy is a process that can psychologically empower you to seize back control of your life, whilst working through issues and problems that have caused loss of self-esteem, as well as confidence in your own ability.

The therapy process increases self awareness and a sense of well being, and is often the first step you can take to your path in discovering a more positive life for your self.  Or it maybe about accepting what can't be changed.

As the therapeutic relationship strengthens, this gradually enables you to open up and focus on the changes you most want to make.

How long will it take?

This depends on the issues being explored, the length of time it takes for the therapeutic relationship to form between us and how quickly you feel comfortable in expressing aspects of yourself and your past. The pace is set by you and with what you feel most comfortable with.

What happens when I no longer want to come?

We will negotiate an ending period, depending on the length of time you have been attending and your requirements, maybe anything from one session to a few months. I suggest we end our sessions face to face in a session, rather then on the phone or email. This closes our work cleanly rather then leaving any loose ends, and gives you a chance to face any difficulties surfacing at this stage.

What's the difference between Counselling & Psychotherapy?

Counselling can help you change and adjust to your current situation, empowering you to respond differently whether at home or work and is usually of a limited duration.

Psychotherapy is normally a longer process that can reach the roots of problems requiring a commitment to work through deeper issues that prevent you from achieving a fulfilling life.
